Care BC would also like to announce the retirement of Terry Pask and Pat Kasprow from the Board of Directors. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for their commitment to the organization and for the important contributions they have made. Returning to the Board of Directors are Tom Chambers as President, Doug Purdie as Vice President and Treasurer, David Kimpton as Secretary, Joan Chambers, Bruce Knapp, Billee Davidson, Eva Turner, Dr. Keith Chambers, and Christopher Richardson. 

In addition to the changes to the Board of Directors, three new life members, Shirley MacFarlane, Anne Earthy and Joyce Gauthier, were inducted. Together they have almost 60 years’ volunteer experience with Care BC and have made an immeasurable impact on their communities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued service.

Since 1898,  Care BC has taken care of British Columbians through healthcare initiatives tailored to the communities we serve. Our charitable programs focus on supporting seniors, caregivers and other people at risk of isolation. Our Meals on Wheels, Family Respite Centre, Community Integration Project, and Health Promotion Services programs all help ensure we can continue to strive towards our vision of a future where seniors live independently in their own homes.

Pharmacy BC operates a select group of The Medicine Shoppe locations throughout the lower mainland.  They offer prescription delivery, witnessed daily ingestion of medications, diabetic programs and other in-home services.  Pharmacy BC clients may not be able to travel to a flu clinic at a pharmacy and for this reason Care BC’s services have been retained for the In-Home Immunization day.

On November 18th Care BC’s Wendy Williams, Nurse Manager will be providing one of two seasonal flu vaccines: Fluviral, a standard dose and Fluad a higher strength for people over 80 years of age.

Operated by Care BC, Meals on Wheels has been delivering hot, nutritious meals and social interaction to isolated Vancouver and Richmond residents since 1967. In 1996, Care BC launched the first ever Chinese Meals on Wheels program in Canada, and the province’s first Meals on Bikes program in 2007.
