I would like to schedule a flu shot but I have been told by my doctor that due to another medication I take, that I should avoid live vaccines. Is the flu shot a live vaccine?
No, the trivalent and quadrivalent flu shots we offer at our workplace flu clinics are definitely NOT live vaccines. The only live version of the flu vaccine is in the nasal spray vaccine which is generally only available for children and often in limited quantities. More information about the nasal spray vaccine can be found in a previous blog post from our “18 Years – 18 Reasons” series of blog posts from the previous flu season.
