Care BC is delighted to announce the completion of The Paul Myers and Shore Family Respite Centre — a warm, welcoming resource in Lower Lonsdale developed in partnership with the City of North Vancouver and the Catalyst Community Developments Society. We are working hard to open our doors in Summer 2026 and start providing compassionate, reliable respite care to families in the community.
How the centre helps
The Paul Myers and Shore Family Respite Centre will provide short-term overnight care for seniors with complex needs, and who live at home. By giving their caregivers reliable time to rest and recharge, the centre will help families sustain compassionate care at home, thereby reducing avoidable emergency visits, hospital stays, and premature long‑term care placements. Quality respite care preserves independence, and well-being for both seniors and their caregivers.
Centre highlights
- Owned and operated by Care BC for 60 years
- Homelike, custom-designed space on the ground floor of a 6-storey building
- Opening phase: 18 private bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms
- Planned expansion: 25 Adult Day Program spaces
- Above the centre: 89 affordable housing units owned and operated by the Catalyst Community Developments Society
Thank you to our Because You CARE supporters
Launched on September 18, 2024, Care BC’s Because You CARE Capital Campaign united more than 100 supporters behind a shared aspiration: building a much‑needed respite hub to support caregivers and honour seniors. Thanks to the generosity of our visionary donors, that dream is now a reality and a lasting community asset.
Support our work
Although the capital campaign has concluded, your support remains vital to sustain our programs and expand services to more families in our community.
