Looking for Exciting Volunteer Opportunities in Vancouver and Richmond? Look no further!

Volunteers with Meals on Wheels delivered over 125,000 meals to over 1,250 clients last year. Each delivery is more than a hot meal; it's a chance for volunteers to make a meaningful impact in a senior's life. With each delivery, volunteers are enabling seniors to remain in their own homes longer, are providing empowerment to those at risk of isolation, and are actively improving the community we all live in.

Volunteers at our Family Respite Centre help ensure that clients truly feel like they are in a home away from home during their short visits. Through seemingly small acts, such as playing Mahjong, sitting down for a coffee or tea, or helping clients during an exercise class, our volunteers contribute to a welcoming environment that ensures caregivers can get the rest they deserve.

The Health and Home Care Society of BC offers a wide range of innovative and unique services to seniors and other people in need. By volunteering with us for just a couple of hours a week, you make a difference in your community and become part of a dedicated team of friendly volunteers and staff.

Alternate Meals on Wheels Delivery Methods:

Meals on Bikes Volunteers:

As an organization we pride ourselves on evolving with the needs of our community.  To better serve our local community, we have a Meals on Bikes program available to our volunteers.

By using bicycles instead of driving, we are reducing our gas emissions and as a result, reducing our environmental footprint. Biking is also better for the health of our volunteers. We are promoting good health and good fitness by adding this as an option for our servers.

Car-Sharing Sponsorships:

Do you want to help and have a license but do not own a car? We have made volunteering more accessible to a greater number of people.

We have established a partnership with Zipcar, who has generously donated the use of their cars for volunteer time.

Family Respite Centre Volunteers:

Volunteers complement the role of staff, assisting with daily activities and enhancing the enjoyment of our elderly guests. Our Overnight Respite and Adult Day Programs support seniors with dementia, Alzheimer's disease and other health conditions.

Spend valuable time with clients assisting with recreational activities such as reading, reminiscing, games, music, exercises, crafts, gardening, etc.

Shifts: Flexible; 1-3 hours once per week between 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., 7 days a week.
