Our MissionTo provide health promotion and supportive care services to communities in British Columbia. |
Our VisionA future where seniors live independently in their own homes. |
The Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) is an independent and BC-based not-for-profit organization. Since 1898, we have taken care of British Columbians through healthcare initiatives tailored to the communities we serve. We continue this tradition of caring today with preventive and supportive health services that keep people healthy and in the comfort of their own homes and communities. The Health & Home Care Foundation of BC (Care BC Foundation) is the fundraising arm of Care BC. Funds raised by the Foundation are used exclusively to support Care BC’s charitable programs, and to expand respite care on the North Shore through its Because You Care fundraising campaign.
Our Programs
Our charitable programs focus on supporting seniors, caregivers and other people at risk of isolation:
Meals on WheelsSince 1967, our Meals on Wheels program has provided hot, nutritious meals and warm, friendly visits to people throughout Vancouver and Richmond. The program, which began with a handful of meals delivered in Kitsilano, now delivers more than 550 meals every weekday. Our program also includes one of Canada's first Chinese Meals on Wheels services, launched in 1996 to provide authentic Asian cuisine and Chinese-speaking volunteers for the region's changing population.

North Shore Family Respite CentreCare BC is working in partnership with the City of North Vancouver (City) and the Catalyst Community Developments Society (Catalyst) to build a Family Respite Centre (FRC) on East 2nd and St. Georges Ave in Lower Lonsdale. The FRC will provide temporary Adult Day Care and Overnight Respite Care for seniors diagnosed with dementia, who are living at home, thereby enabling their caregivers to get the periods of “respite” or the rest they require to continue to care for their loved ones at home.
