MOW SUPPORTERS
Richmond Honda, Care BC’s lead community partner and supporter, generously provides two Honda CRV vehicles, as well as financial support, on an annual basis, for the MOW programs and to help with meal deliveries.
Our nutritious meals are prepared in partnership with Mava Foods, who provide the Western meals and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. K.Y. Lee Seniors Care Home, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Austin Harris Residence and the Continental Seafood Restaurant who provide the Chinese meals. We greatly appreciate their cooperation and support in keeping the cost of our meals at a modest level.
We would also like to thank the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and the Province of British Columbia including a Community Gaming Grant for financial assistance. Their annual contributions enable us to maintain affordable meals for our clients, many of whom have limited financial resources. In addition we would like to extend special thanks to these businesses and community organizations who stepped up and provided financial help during the COVID-19 pandemic: the Vancouver Foundation, Intact Insurance, Wheaton Precious Metals, Home Equity Bank, Bocci, Stong’s Market (Dunbar) RBC South Vancouver Richmond branch(es?), Lee Turner and Associates, MBIM Management Systems, the United Way of the Lower Mainland, and the Wolridge Foundation, the Boag Foundation and the Mel and Geri Davis Charitable Trust. Other much appreciated partnerships include St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Point Grey Baptist Church, Young Kwang Presbyterian Church, Oppenheimer Lodge, Living Word Chinese Baptist Church, St Stephen’s United Church, Thompson Community Centre, and the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church who provide their premises as depot stations for our volunteers to pick up the meals for their delivery routes; the Garden Club of Vancouver who provide mini-floral arrangements or cards to brighten our clients day for special holidays; and the following schools who have provided thoughtful special occasion cards for our clients: Carnarvon Elementary, L’école Bilingue, General Brock Elementary, General Wolfe Elementary School, John Norquay Elementary, Marlborough Elementary, Osler Elementary, Sexsmith Elementary, Seymour Heights, Elementary Strathcona Elementary School, Tyee Elementary School. The Girl Guides have also provided much-appreciated cards (including the 15th Vancouver Guides, as well as Dahlia, who took it upon herself to create many cards herself; she is also part of the 35th Vancouver Guides). Finally, we would like to thank the following media who have assisted us in recruiting volunteers when in need and helping us share our important work - CBC Radio’s Early Edition with Stephen Quinn, AM1320, The Vancouver Sun and Province and 3BP Solutions. All of these partnerships demonstrate that there is a wonderful and sincere desire within our community to help others and support care and service programs that benefit the homebound and seniors. |
