JOB SUMMARY:
The Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator is responsible to develop, plan, implement and evaluate the strategic plans, goals and objectives of the therapeutic leisure, recreation and exercise programs and policies specific to client’s physical, nutritional, recreational, therapeutic health and social needs. The program is developed in collaboration with the Manager, staff and volunteers of the Family Respite Centre.

The program is developed in collaboration with the Manager, staff and volunteers of the Family Respite Centre.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation. 4 years recent related experience working in progressively senior positions. 2 years recent experience working with a physically and/or mentally frail adult population. Current First Aid and CPR certificates. Current Food Safe Level 1 certificate. Valid Class 4 driver’s license. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Recent satisfactory criminal reference check and recent tuberculosis screening required. Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with the team. Demonstrated initiative and innovative approach to problem solving. Ability to demonstrate respect for the rights, confidentiality, dignity and self-esteem of those who are elderly, physically disabled or cognitively impaired. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize and prioritize workload, follow instructions and to work independently. Ability to analyze and do research, develop programs, evaluate and implement changes. Ability to word process at 40 wpm and to operate and maintain software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and database program such as Access. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

SALARY RANGE: Grid 38 $28.56 to $30.63 per hour (April 9, 2021 rates)

occasional evening/Sat/Sun |
DAYS OFF: Sat & Sun

The hours of work, days off and location may be subject to change, consistent with operational requirements and the provisions of the Collective Agreement.
