The theme for National Volunteer Week in Canada 2021 (April 18-24) is “The Value of One; the Power of Many”, reflecting on the awe-inspiring acts of kindness by volunteers AND the magic that happens when we work together towards a common purpose. This is exactly what makes our Meals on Wheels programs (Western and Chinese serving Vancouver and Richmond) so special. Individual volunteers meeting one-on-one for a brief visit and informal check on the safety of the meal recipients have a tremendous impact on the community – we delivered over 120,000 meals every year.
(We are also very grateful for the help we receive from volunteers at our Family Respite Centre, although unfortunately the Centre has not operated under normal conditions throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic)

Without support from our incredibly dedicated volunteer team, we could not continue to reach as many people as we do.
Care BC also recognizes our Staff team in April, as their efforts are also crucial to the work we do every day.
We are postponing our in-person ceremony which we typically hold during National Volunteer Week – we do not have a date confirmed, but anticipate our re-scheduled meeting will take place in the Fall of 2021.

In the meantime, please see below for a list of all our volunteers and staff who are celebrating 5-year anniversary milestones with Care BC this year.
We also thank those individuals who supplied photos for sharing in the 5-year anniversary recipient slide show. (Click "play" to advance the photos automatically or on the thumbnails). We'll add more photos in the coming weeks as we hand out our appreciation certificates. |
