Outstanding Meals on Wheels Volunteers and Staff Recognized for Long Term Service

VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – On Wednesday April 24th, the Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) will recognize their amazing volunteers and staff for outstanding long-term service, in line with events surrounding National Volunteer Week.  This year we are pleased to recognize six volunteers with over 20 years of service to Western and Chinese Meals on Wheels in Vancouver and Richmond (four at 20 years and one at 25 and 30 years respectively).

Vice President of Care BC’s Board, Doug Purdie, will be hosting the pin and certificate ceremony.  The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and Care BC Executive Director, Dr. Inge Schamborzki will also be in attendance.

Chinese Meals on Wheels Urgently Recruiting Vancouver Volunteers - Cantonese or Mandarin speaking driving volunteers needed

VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – Chinese Meals on Wheels is urgently seeking driving, Cantonese and/or Mandarin speaking volunteers to help deliver meals to Vancouver residents at risk of malnutrition or social isolation.

Increased demand for Meals on Wheels services and decreased availability during the winter months creates the need to recruit more volunteers to prevent potential shortcomings in service.

The event, sponsored by Omni Television, features a delicious 10-course Chinese banquet-style menu, exciting silent and live auction hosted by Chef Marcus VonAlbrecht, as well as raffle prizes. The evening promises a mix of philanthropy and fun, with all proceeds supporting Meals on Wheels in Vancouver and Richmond.

Meals on Wheels Feeling the Pinch of High Fuel Prices
Community Support Needed for Inaugural Meals on Wheels Golf Classic

VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – Set to tee off Monday, September 19th at the University Golf Club, the Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) will be hosting its first ever Meals on Wheels Golf Classic.

This shotgun-style tournament will include a light lunch, followed by a barbecue buffet and a fantastic silent auction. Southside Nissan has generously donated a 2011 Nissan Versa as the hole-in-one prize for the tournament. All proceeds generated will support Meals on Wheels in Vancouver and Richmond.
