For Immediate Release October 13, 2011 Give by Taking – Vancouver Flu Clinics Support Meals on Wheels VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – The Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) is holding two drop-in flu clinics, Thursday, October 20 and Thursday, November 17, at their South Granville office, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. All revenue generated from the clinics supports Western and Chinese Meals on Wheels programs in Vancouver and Richmond. Individuals will have a choice of two vaccines at the clinic: Vaccigrip, the regular, seasonal flu shot, or a micro-needle flu vaccine, called Intanza - ideal for those individuals with a phobia of needles, or those individuals such as avid athletes who do not want an intramuscular injection. It is recommended that every person is vaccinated annually, as protection from the previous year will diminish over time. Not only are Care BC prices cheaper than your local pharmacy, but you’re also supporting charitable efforts in your community. Health Promotions Services Since 1997, Care BC has been offering community, home and workplace health promotion services, with Registered Nurses delivering to more than 120 communities throughout BC. These services are customized to meet clients’ needs, enhancing their wellbeing through such services as immunization, health education and occupational health services. The Health Promotion Services department is a social enterprise, with all revenue supporting charitable causes such as the Chinese and Western Meals on Wheels programs in Vancouver and Richmond, as well as the Family Respite Centre.
