February 28, 2012 Chinese Meals on Wheels Urgently Recruiting Vancouver Volunteers - Cantonese or Mandarin speaking driving volunteers needed VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – Chinese Meals on Wheels is urgently seeking driving, Cantonese and/or Mandarin speaking volunteers to help deliver meals to Vancouver residents at risk of malnutrition or social isolation. Increased demand for Meals on Wheels services and decreased availability during the winter months creates the need to recruit more volunteers to prevent potential shortcomings in service.

January 31, 2012 4th Annual Meals on Wheels Fundraising Dinner & Auction - Community Support Needed for Vancouver-Richmond Meals on Wheels VANCOUVER, BC CANADA – On Thursday, February 16th at Kirin Restaurant, the Health and Home Care Society of BC (Care BC) will be hosting its 4th Annual Meals on Wheels Fundraising Dinner and Auction. The event, sponsored by Omni Television, features a delicious 10-course Chinese banquet-style menu, exciting silent and live auction hosted by Chef Marcus VonAlbrecht, as well as raffle prizes. The evening promises a mix of philanthropy and fun, with all proceeds supporting Meals on Wheels in Vancouver and Richmond. "Renewal and rejuvenation -- they’re words that conjure up fluffy bath robes and spa treatments. For caregivers, renewal and rejuvenation may be seen as indulgences that just don’t have a place in their lives. All of the funds raised will directly support Western and Chinese Meals on Wheels programs in Vancouver and Richmond. Last year’s auction raised over $16,000 toward sustaining these charitable programs thanks to the kind generosity of supporters. Meals on Wheels Operated by Care BC, Meals on Wheels has been delivering hot, nutritious meals and social interaction to isolated Vancouver and Richmond residents since 1967. In 1996, Care BC launched the first ever Chinese Meals on Wheels program in Canada, and the province’s first Meals on Bikes program in 2007. In 2010 alone, 100,119 meals were served in Vancouver and Richmond, and this need continues to grow. |
